Fibre and Textile Provider Network (FTPN)

The IFC established the FTPN in 2008 to facilitate delivery of high level technical and management training to fibre and textile companies, aimed at improving productivity and increasing competitiveness.

The IFC provides annual block grants to the network for the delivery of training to the fibre and textile industry on subjects such as but not limited to lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, agile manufacturing, speed to market and waste minimisation.  Training providers assist companies with the development of training needs assessments, training plans, new courses, learning resources, assessment tools, training delivery and project reporting.

The Network comprises Kangan Institute (Convenor), Box Hill, Chisholm and Gordon Institutes, the TAFE Division of Swinburne University and specialist textile industry provider TexSkill.  In addition, the Network model has expanded to include "SME Clusters". TFIA/Kangan co-ordinate the network of clusters to increase collaboration throughout the industry and to make recommendations on equipment needs, training and business opportunities to the Textile & Fashion Hub.  These clusters are made up of industry professionals addressing issues openly, working on exciting new projects and finding solutions to the issues they face.  Cluster groups include: Product Safety, Labeling & Standards, Performance Wear, Manufacturing and Design.
